Summary
Suspected counterfeit large cents (dated 1840, 1844, 1846, 1855) were listed online in fake NGC-style holders using copied cert numbers whose barcodes scanned correctly. The author reports NGC marked the certs "Possible Counterfeit Holder".
Reported diagnostics
- Cert number cropped out of listing photos
- Barcode scans correctly, so scanning is not enough
- Coin does not match NGC's image for that cert
- Holder prong size differs from genuine
