Summary
A CoinWeek author bought a "1921-D MS64" in a PCGS-style holder. The coin did not match the genuine PCGS example for the cert, and its reverse carried a defect known from counterfeit Carson City Morgans.
Reported diagnostics
- Coin does not match the cert image
- "Slash" defect across the eagle's breast
- Wrong reverse/mintmark for the date
What to do
Never trust the label alone; compare the coin to the cert image.
